Birthday Season

The birthday season has just started for my soon to be three year old and his little buddies. The first birthday party of the season was for his favourite fairy princess, complete with face painting fairy and beautiful fairy birthday cake thanks to her grandma. In the next month and a half he will be attending another four birthday parties, a christening and a joint mothers group birthday party (a bit like they do for horses, celebrating birthdays on the same day). His social calendar is far more active than ours, which is pretty sad really when you think about it!

All these kids birthdays have made me realise that I really need to beef up the kids range of birthday cards on www.littlepaperbag.com.au, or all the soon to be three year olds little buddies are going to be getting the same ‘cowboy’ birthday card this year! Poor little fairy princess had to make do with a pretty pink card with butterflies but sadly no fairies. Not good enough from the person who is wanting be known as the birthday card queen. Sorry fairy princess, I promise to make up for it next year!

It also got me thinking about the number of birthday cards that I have to buy every year, immediate family alone we have; mum and dad, two brothers and partners, husband and two little boys. Then there is; mother in law and husband, father in law, sister in law and partner, brother in law, pop, step sister in law and two kids. That alone totals nineteen birthday cards, if you added in extended family, friends, a couple of engagements, weddings and new babies the number nudges thirty to forty. Let alone Christmas cards, Easter cards, Mothers Day and Fathers Day cards, Anniversary cards and Valentine’s Day cards the list goes on and on. We only have a relatively small family and close circle of friends, imagine if we were actually popular. No wonder I have gone in to the greeting card business, at least now I will never have to leave the house again to buy a birthday card.

Anyway, I am off to place a couple of orders for kids birthday cards.

Getting closer

Little Paper Bag is getting closer to launch, it seems like a universe ago that my mind conceived the idea of an online store focussing on funky and unique greeting cards.  I am a mum of two little boys and was finding it increasingly more painful getting them both in and out of the car just to buy one birthday card or one anniversary card, surely i was not the only person in the world with the same frustrations?!?  So I thought how good would it be if you could access the funkiest and latest cards online and buy them five or ten at a time.  The number of people that I have spoken to since Little Paper Bag was conceived have told me how they have a 'stash' of birthday cards in their bedroom cupboard for all occasions.

I have just spent a couple of days in Melbourne at some gift and homeware trade shows, that was an eye opener!  To cut a long story short, after searching through the cheap and nasty I I have found some fantastic suppliers with some beautiful greeting cards.  I am in the process of putting the finishing touches to www.littlepaperbag.com.au and I am super excited about going 'live' in the next couple of weeks!  I hope you love the cards that I have selected to range as much as I do!
